This isn't a punk or metal name but I would make a band with this name: The Village Idiots.
You would have elders all dressed up like the Village People singing about not why you should not join the YMCA. I would also have these elder musicians sing Macho Man also dressed up for the part while waving their bibles around.
i didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.
with all the recent changes to this religion, what really is the purpose of being a jw?
especially for those who have been in and witnessed all the changes and still no sight of the end.
for these ones in particular (35-55 year olds) they must be in a state of confusion.
however, i haven't found any evidence to support that belief.. have you?

When I was an adolescent, I used to stay at my aunt's house after school. My uncle smoked cigars like a chimney. Even when he wasn't smoking, the cigar smell would hit you in the face just walking through the door. It was imbedded in the furniture and walls.
I miss him and that smell.

The mind is what the brain does. No hope in copying or transferring to another brain no gain for the original individual even if it is possible.
What you mentioned about duplicate copies being exactly like you but another you (like an identical twin with your exact same memories) is what I refer to as "The Star Trek transporter room conundrum". Your original you is disassembled into atoms that get transported to another location with an identical, but not original you. The act of disassembling your body is tantamount to death.
i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.

in your personal experience, do you think that the wt attracts needy types of people?
over the years, my experience is that they do attract very needy, insecure, dysfunctional, types.
i had an acquaintance that i just basically cut off.
I remember an ex-JW (James Penton?) writing once that if you didn't have a problem when you came in to the religion then they would give you one.
I also remember a brother saying in the Kingdom Hall that there were mentally unbalanced people coming into the organization.
